The Mask

I write to express what can't be said aloud

You see, to explain myself is quite a task

For I fear the future of not being proud

So again I put on the mask

This mask is simple yet draws a crowd

A crowd of question and doubt

But when I look deeper I realize the mask is really just myself

When I write it all comes out

And suddenly my world makes perfect sense

Until another cloud of qualm appears

And again everything becomes tense

So on goes the mask,

And out comes the pen

And I write until I can find myself again
