The Mask

I hid behind a mask my whole life.

This kept other people from seeing my strife.

Sometimes good, sometimes bad

anxiety, depression, panic attacks

all driving me mad.

How can I hold on when my soul is gone.

Smile says hi, but heart says low.

Everything around me is moving so slow.

Bang, bang, on the floor

If this is what life has in store

Oh no....

I need help, I need help

but everytime I try, I can't even manage a yelp

The world was fading and so was I.

That's when it fell

the mask

It fell, shattered, and finally I was free

Happiness, real happiness took hold

Finally I could be bold

The world is my task

now that I no longer hide behind that mask.
