Mask

I made a mask

Sculpted it out of clay and let it dry in the sun's hot rays

I made a mask

With glaring eyes and unsmiling mouth that could catch you by surprise

It was cold but perfect too

And, yes it had some cracks but just a few

Now I wear that mask every day

And It hardens by times old wave

I’ve come a long way to say the least

No longer an innocent girl begging for release

From society's harsh ways

And I can say it easily they made me this way

A Mask is what we all wear to hide our emotions in thin air

For we ourselves can’t be trusted to keep such things in crested for our scar and cracks within can leak our secrets faster than our lips can. So we keep them tucked away in the masks we might one day call our personality or a second skin for some indeed
