Mask

Location

My mask is on

Almost all the time,

To hide the face

That is truly mine.

There are few I trust

To see the real me,

For if you knew

You wouldn’t want to see.

I have a strange sickness

That few know about,

A disorder that’s alive

And feeds off my doubt.

It’s a horrible disease

You can ever dread to gain,

For not a day goes by

That it doesn’t cause me pain.

It lives in my heart

Soul and mind,

Throughout my whole body

Where anyone can find.

For what my body craves

Is not normal or right,

Where every day’s a struggle

Just to hold on tight.
