Masked
You are a mask.
Hiding emotions, feelings, thoughts.
A blemished face behind the façade.
You provoke a show of fakeness,
While you arouse the viewer to use imagination freely.
The fakeness acceptable by a mere passerby,
But those who scrutinize
Start to notice minute details,
Giving depth and life to this shield.
You narrate one story.
One story repeated over and over again.
This bluff is too polished,
Too etched out in stone.
A smile, a frown, a wrinkle, a tear.
All painted by various artists.
You model cracked skin,
Broken perfection.
Each turmoil and hardship instills its mark.
You are mysterious, enticing to a longing soul.
You answer multitudes of questions
And leave multitudes of questions unanswered.
Expel the tattered and tarnished mask,
Like an actor who exits the stage.
Who is someone else for a moment,
But to be himself is something no one can reform.
