Masks
I got no special power or supernatural trait,
I'm not wonder woman or a person who believes in fate,
I'm not a goddess, who can open heavens gates,
I'm simply a human being that makes a lot of mistakes.
The perfect A’s in my report card, everybody admires,
Believing that to succeed, I got everything that it requires,
But looking at the mirror I ask myself “what are your desires?”
Shamefully I excuse myself from answering that because “I’m really tired.”
I’m tired of the masks that we wear every day,
Creating fictional characters that will not make us a prey,
Hiding the true protagonists that we think that are not so great,
Wasting our full potential because we care about what others will say.
The punches that life gives can sometimes make us cry,
She doesn’t even care how disgracefully she can be impolite,
But as always there’s a mask that will seem to push our emotions out of sight,
Making everybody believe like everything is alright.
Deep inside of us there’s a warrior,
Waiting to be set free to annihilate every barrier,
If only we destroy the masks that make us look like a stranger,
If only we give ourselves the chance to search within our interior,
We will be amazed of how much we can be braver.
