MASKS

Waking up in the morning,

some put on their;

eyeliner,

blush,

foundation,

eyeshadow,

lipstick,

eyelashes and what not

there's their masks

because underneath all  that,

is what they don't want anyone to see, to know, at least for the day.

     What they don't know is,

when their masks are on,

they become thier masks themselves

but when it's all off,

there they are,

you see them

and if you look closely,

you just might figure out what they're hiding,

what they didn't want you to know or see

and if you look even closer,

you'd realize that they need you there,

on their side,

saying it's okay.

     Just like everyone,

I have a mask of my own

it's not makeup,

it's the one mask that can hide the sorrows, pain, secrets and lies

this mask is my smile.

I'm with my friends almost everyday

I laugh with them,

smile with them,

talk and have fun with them

and hope my mask doesn't fall off

because the i'll have to face all that i don't want to,

all i've been hiding and did't want to say.

scared of what my friends would think of me.

But thats the thing about friends

you can hide all you want

wear all the masks in the world,

but when you break,

when there's no where else to hide,

no more masks to wear,

they are there,

trying to comfort you

telling you it's okay.

     So come on,

it's fine,

take it off,

let people in,

let those that want to be there for you...be there for you.

because some day,

when you are in the process of faking a smile,

or holding up that makeup brush for the wrong reason,

it'll be their words,

their presence that holds you up

So lets take off our masks

lets wear our makeup because we like it,

let's wear our smiles because we are happy

so come on,

it's fine,

take it off,

you don't need the mask.
