Masquerade
Welcome to my Masquerade. Everyone wears a mask.
Here at this party we are all pretty, happy, perfect.
Nothing is messed up, broken, or misplaced.
Throughout the night I change my mask so I can dance with certain groups.
Not all groups will accept my original mask.
The only thing constant in this room is change. We constantly change so rejection can never be present.
One moment my dress is bigger, the next it is thinner.
Now wait...
I see a man who must be lost! His face is uncovered and vulnerable. He is waltzing from group to group not caring if his true, pure appearance is accepted or not.
He doesn’t hide who he is. He knows who he is.
He is walking my way! I have no idea what mask to wear.
I frantically look for one to in His category! But I find none.
I quickly throw on a mask before he stops right in front of me.
My heart is pounding and my hands are shaking like an earthquake.
He does not say a word; He reaches for my mask and pulls it away.
He must be insane! Doesn’t he know people are not to supposed to see who I am?
He gently takes me by the hand and asks "Will you dance with me?"
I have never met anyone who wanted to see my face, who wanted to know me for me.
He seems not to mind that imp not perfect, happy or put together.
The way He looks at me is as if my scars are not there...
I looked Him in the eyes and for the first time felt pure love.
When the dance came to an end I asked Him for His name. He smiled as if He knew what I was thinking.
He wraps His arms around me and embraces me like a groom coming to get His bride and whispers "Jesus"
