Masterpiece

Place your hand here.

Do you feel a single beat?

Isn’t that a sign you’re not alive?

There used to be a tapping

But it ended long ago

Once truth caught up with life.

I never really knew

What happiness was like

‘Cause I haven’t felt it since I was so young.

But now I have my tears

And all my crippling fears

That keep all cries for help trapped on my tongue.

‘Cause I may look like I’m a masterpiece

With plastered smiles and balanced feet

But there are so many pains and cries

That all go past unrecognized.

Those moments when I’m terrified

I grip onto what’s real inside

And hold on till I’m home alone

‘Cause no one cares if they don’t know.
