Masterpiece of the Mind

Alabaster lined paper

positioned blankly on a desk

urging an artist

to create a masterpiece.

A curious, yet fearful adventurer

clasped it, anxious about the unknown.

Foot rapidly tapping, energy buzzing.

she doodled letters

begging them to form words.

Glancing up, she massaged her hands.

No time for breaks.

Expeditiously, she wrote.

Words now flowing easily

structuring themselves into stanzas.

Reaching the end of the page,

she ferciously turned the canvas over

daring herself to compose more art.

Letters splattered about

yet a beautiful image still concurred.

She had found her serenity.

Poetry, a creation of the mind

a combination of language

and brilliance, self-expression

and the apotheosis

of discovering a world lesser known.
