Matsuri doll

Location

Japan

You see

The Empress

Queen

Regal Ruler

Perfectly poised

Demure damsel

Don't move a muscle

Don't even blink

Kashak!

One image, one perception, one pose

Forever.

This is the face you see:

My careful makeup,

perfect poise,

and Sensei's perfect wrappings.

This matsuri doll in her flawless trappings.

Now tilt your head just so,

Be careful of your bow,

and your bow...

Wear this when you eat,

Be carful to be neat!

Two sides one coin,

This beautiful matsuri doll does have.

Demure princess,

The one you see,

Devil,

Where?

There

The perfect one

almost blonde hair,

clear blue eyes.

Can't miss her.

You can miss her pain,

so carfully hidden

her unintended cruelty

her fear

The lies she tells herslef

the lies she tells the world

All to seem strong.

All to protect herself,

her heart,

Or so she'd say.

You'd miss her feigned smiles

Her petty hate

Her loves

wishes

hopes

desires

All hidden behind this flawless face,

neatly done hair,

and perfect kimono.

Can you really ever say you know her?
