Matt
I wish it didn’t have to be this way
But I hope you get what you wanted
And everything turns out to be okay
At night we pray you are at his side
As you tell us to save our tears for another child
But we are grieving
We are hurt
I can understand why more than others
Because I’ve been there
I’ve been to the dark side of the moon where you think there is no return
With cold metal pressed against your temple
Hands squeezed tight
Tears rolling down your face
I’ve been there with pills in the hand
Wondering how many it would take to never wake up again
I’ve been there
But everytime I took a step back
And I still wonder why
Maybe it was family
Or limited friends
Maybe I knew deep down soon I would be forgotten and for what?
To be another tally on the board of kids who couldn’t make it
Or maybe I was afraid people thought I was doing it for attention,
I was afraid they wouldn’t see what brought me to that point.
I never craved the attention.
I just wanted help
Help to live
And I think that is what you wanted to.
Someone to realize you were in pain without even asking
Someone who just knew and could relate
I’m sorry I didn’t get to know you
You sounded amazing
People really did care
More than the others who couldn’t go either I think
Sweet Pat won’t talk
Everyone is kind of numb
Kelsey hasn’t shown up for a couple days
People’s eyes are red
I can’t stop crying
I feel guilty
But it’s not your fault for that
You had no idea what you happen, you only had your imagination
And you never met me so how could I’ve been part of it.
I just wish I could have been there for you
At least so you didn’t know what metal taste like on the roof of your mouth
