In A matter of Seconds

Bottomless emotions escape from my heart. Tears tucked away in my eyes like an overfilled suitcase. I am wondering where all it starts. Dashing down the field as my cleats are eating the dirt My jersey dancing in the wind as I sprint across the field The soccer ball, rolling free, like a bird soaring through the air Who would have known how much agony I would feel Until I woke up two seconds later Without feeling in both of my legs. Knives feel like they are being propelled at my head I glanced down at my right leg once or twice Trying to decide if what I am seeing is right. A bump that looked like a tree stump lay awkwardly on the side of my knee My heart begins to race For my lungs can no longer breathe I try to cry as I lay on the cold soccer field But no tears swim from the corner of my eyes. Pain so atrocious I wonder why I still am alive Sirens are heard from barely a block away I forcefully shut my eyes, and try to block out the long lasting sickness She hit me hard before I knew it She done me wrong, before I could stop her doing She broke both of my legs With no warning and no mercy My whole life flipped upside down And smashed deep into the damp unwelcoming ground In a matter of seconds I lost my crown.
