A matter of time

Ecclesiastes 1:9 New English Translation (NET Bible)

9 What exists now is what will be,

and what has been done is what will be done;

there is nothing truly new on earth.

The eyes from days gone by focusing on our struggles

Shaking their heads sadly for they notice we’ll never learn

We’ll go to the same place in the company of the faceless

As every warning we laugh off before we crash and burn

Where is hope without vision or will the deaf hear the music?

Will the dumb ever speak the words we all really need to hear?

Who will make decisions and from where is the sound of a prelude?

Who will recognize the opportunity of trying to clone their very peers?

Why does a dragonfly soar on wings and why can’t a man stand alone?

Why is he just flesh and bone and why does he think himself the better?

Why does he fit in a dying world and why do his misgivings really matter?

Why does irritation produce a pearl and my attention-span always splatter?
