May 18th
The fire in your soul radiates
under a rugged exterior
the reins of past fasten
on my fallen angel,
my quiet warrior.
You bear the mark of Cain
Yet you are drenched in soft spoken humanity
for you have seen
how words can be thrown like daggers—
with clenched teeth
you speak true emotion
there is nothing to fear
yet—
I feel the churning of your soul
the boiling of your blood,
you have conditioned yourself
trained to become flint—that needs ignition
a spark filled with ambition;
There is fire in your soul building
gets the devil squirming—
through the layers of etchings in your skin
you burn—
and you burn with pure humanity.
