May 5th

a year with you isn’t about presents or dinner,

it’s not about the day or the place.

a year with you is about finding you,

finding me.

it’s about being happy in the fall,

walking in the downpour.

it’s working through our fights,

and loving you even when you snore.

it’s about first loves and first times,

taking risks and believing in second chances.

we struggle but we overcome.

looking at you, my heart dances,

just like your Chevy Metro does in the middle of a green light.

a year with you is about happiness,

yours and mine,

but most importantly,

finding you was about finding me, too.
