Maybe
All I need
They tell me
This, and this, and that
Dreaming is good, they say
Until it isn't
Then what?
Wanting, wanting, wanting
Change, a hope, a prayer
Don't plan too far
Don't try so hard
You might be dissapointed
It's okay to want things
But it needs to be our things
And if it's not
It's probably wrong
So maybe it is
Or maybe just wrong for me
Maybe I don't need what I want
And maybe I don't know what I need
Maybe I want something
Which isn't mine to take
But maybe I have something
That's much too strong to break
Maybe I should let it go
Maybe I should do the thing
That thing that makes everyone happy
Everyone except me, maybe
But that's okay
Because no one's upset with me
And no one is disapointed in me
Except me, maybe
But that's okay
What I do isn't important
So much as why I do it
Is it for them, for him, for her?
And this, and this, and that?
Is it really winning
If everyone wins but me?
Is that the selfish part talking
Or the part that wants to be free?
All I need
I realize
Not what I thought it would be
Not staying, or going
Not wanting, not knowing
But to finally have faith in me.
