Maybe I Just Need a Piece of Cake
I felt lonely today and I don’t know why
But I knew that all the pain I felt was enough to make me cry
Am I just an empty husk with nothing left to give?
Or have I barely sprouted, a seed that needs to live?
I truly care about others, and want to see them thrive
But do they feel the same for me?
Other than my family, I have no sense of certainty
But even then, I don’t think they’ll be there
If I ever reach there
The only thing I know I have is myself
Me, myself and I
Nothing more, nothing less
Than another average guy
I’m close with so many and I truly know them well
But then I have my doubts, and they can all just go to hell
I’m scared of the world and I don’t know if I can be out there alone
I know I’m supposed to think that it’ll be okay, that I’ll always have someone
That it’ll all work out
Friends who aren’t what they seem, family who doesn’t provide enough comfort
God
Is there anything I can do?
Is there any way I can move past my worries and be happy with what I am?
Who I am?
Happy that I will always have me but is me enough?
That I don’t need to be with others to feel like I am something?
That I don’t need to feel like a burden
A loser
An afterthought
Or worst of all, not even a thought
A reason
A reason the question “Who?” is asked
Who’s that?
Never heard of it
It
No
I can’t give up
You can never give up
Be a light and shine on bright
No matter what you can do it
It
I felt lonely today and I don’t know why
But all I know I can do to figure it out is to try
Something wrong with this poem?
