Me
I once knew a kid, so happy and free
So energetic and truthful to himself that it seemed too hard to believe
He was so bright that it made others unable to see
But he was just a kid
He doesn't know what it is to live
He doesn't know what it is to love
He doesn't know what it is to lose
He was just a kid
Years go by and he now has a pet
He seems happier
More playful than he was before because now he has a friend
Someone who can keep him company
Someone to be there till the end
A dog is truly a man's bestfriend
A few years go by and he found the love of his life
He is truly happy
Truly smiling because she brightened his day
He didn't think he would find someone so out of his league
A good year with her passes by
Fast and rumbly just how the wind blows
Yet things happen, it doesn't feel the same as before
He doesn't look happy
He doesn't seem free
But it was because he lost something that couldn't be
He lost his love
He tried to talk and listen but she didn't want him
He didn't want it to end because he was still in love
But he understood that she was done
He now knows what it is to love
He knows what it is to lose
A couple years go by and he is grown up
He has now lived
He now knows what it feels like to lose
And he still has a bruise from it
But he keeps pushing his head up because he lost a few screws
People see him walk and they view him differently
As if he is crazy but he is just misunderstood
He isn't going to let that stop him from doing anything
It is not going to stop him from being free
He now knows what it is to live
He now knows what it is to love
And he now knows what it is to lose
I once knew this kid, so happy and free
So energetic and truthful to himself that it seemed too hard to believe
He was so bright that it made others unable to see
And yes, I once knew this kid because that kid was ME
