Before Me

Sometimes I wonder What happened On June nineteeth, 'ninety-five - The day before my birth. Before I opened my eyes Before I took my first breath of fresh air Before I touched the world with tiny fingers And before the world touched me. Before it pushed its acrid air into my lungs Before its harsh lights burnt my tender eyes. Sometimes I wonder What happened - to me The day before my birth.
