This Is Me

(poems go here) I am from sidewalks From mud and grass stains I am from bruises and scrapes I am from the orange Play-Doh Whose salty taste comes to mind Every time I think of it. I’m from dirty dishes and music From the first generation. I’m from the arguers and hard workers From don’t be shy and don’t give up I’m from early morning chores and late nights I’m from loud voices and big appetites I’m from the car crash that changed my grandma. “The look” that froze us Under my matters they lay flat Filled with old memories Good, bad and everything in between Evidence that they once happened That made me who I am now I am from those moments Snapped during my growth A leaf off the family tree
