Me
Home they say ,
Is who you are
Not where you are from but
How can I feel secure?
When who I am is
Not the norm.
How can I feel acceptance?
When who I am is
Not the norm.
How can I feel love?
When who I am is
Not the norm.
This land I call my homeplace
Has become a place where those who share my skin,
Pumped full of melanin,
Are again no longer safe in a place that
WE built
WE nutured
WE struggled for
How can this be home,
If I can't be me?
