Me

When you’re young it can be a struggle

To figure out who you are.

Everything feels like you’re in a funnel,

And the destination seems so far.

Then suddenly words jump off a page,

Into my heart they flutter.

I am not of one age,

But of many that have been uttered.

A thousand poets have described me;

A thousand more describe my stage.

To my own puzzle, I am the key.

I will never again be put in a cage.

Words have allowed me to express my emotion.

Now I am as stable as a tree,

And as strong as the ocean,

For I know the secrets of me.
