Me
Galatians 6:3
For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself
Is myself the “inner-self”
the one I cannot find?
Or! Am I my “deeper-self”
the one, that’s born blind?
I know, I’m not my “surface-self”
the one that acts and pretends.
I guess I am my “outer-self”
compromising without end.
Who is me that Jesus touched?
Who is “me” He redeemed?
To deliver “me” from the other “me’s”
or that is the way it seems.
Why did He leave the other “me’s”
who are so close to my heart?
He knows I fight them all the time,
because I’m not that smart.
Be filled with Me says the Lord
until your cup runs over.
But me other “me’s” are drinking it
and for the real “me” is none leftover.
Am I jealous of the other “me’s”
the ones, who don’t seem to care?
that of thirst I’m dying
while my “me’s” are everywhere.
Keeping me from basic needs
and where I ought to be.
Pushing, shoving and pulling me
to choose a path of ease.
