Me Against Myself

Fri, 03/06/2015 - 13:46 -- MyHkmnr

Free, Happy, Loved,

Unique and like no other,

Thinking before I talk and confidence in the way I walk,

Laughter is loud and full of joy,

Not interested in trying to impress any boy.

That's who I see.

That's me.

Living in a society that's damaging my sanity,

Pressured to be what the world sees as beauty.

Anxiety rises from every face I see,

The fear of judgment.

"Don't look at me, for I am not worthy" is what my conscience is saying.

But I cannot let the world know of this.

I will not let them see that I am defeated.

Drowning in a pool of tears, holding my breath, no longer fearing death,

But with the little faith I had left,

I inhaled, and opened my eyes.

I am on land,

I have been saved by the guard of life and given a second chance.

Forgiving myself for letting my mind tell me that I am not good enough,

Forgiving myself for falling under people's expectations.

I force myself to look at my reflection.

Say it, even if you don't believe it, say it.

"Free, Happy, Loved,

Unique and like no other,

Thinking before I talk and confidence in the way I walk,

Laughter is loud and full of joy,

Not interested in trying to impress any boy."

This is the person I see.

The real me.
