To the me at the end of 2018

To the me at the end of 2018,

There’s this persistent need within me to barrage you with a million questions,

But I won’t give it the satisfaction of only having inquiries in this letter to you.

I only have a few things I really need to say to you:

#1: Thank you for surviving.

If you don’t survive to the end of 2018,

Thank you for the experiences I lived through.

Whether I died from my own hand,

Or from some other act of fate,

I died knowing I lived a good life,

I died knowing I had good friends at one point or another,

I died knowing that I was (hopefully) truly happy, at one point or another.

#2: I hope you’re happy.

You’re presented with new opportunities to cleanse away everything that happened before,

You’re able to free yourself from such burdening thoughts that kept you up at night

(Or maybe I’m being too optimistic…),

You’re able to write more,

Do more,

Be more,

Love yourself more.

#3: Promise me you’ll live your life the way you wanted.

Promise me that you’ll keep dreaming bigger,

And if your dreams and ambitions have changed drastically since I’ve penned this letter,

Then so be it.

You may not believe you deserve much in life,

But you do deserve to live it out until the end.

No shortcuts.

I know you can do it.

To the me at the end of 2018,

I hope you found some good games, good music, and good people to surround yourself with.

From,

The me at the end of 2017

PS: I hope you’re keeping up your conversations with the cat when you can.
