Me Myself & I

Me Myself & I

The joking one,

The one who laughs at everything,

The one who is outgoing, cheerful.

What is beneath all those smiles?

Is that a tear I see?

Dripping down her face, like soft rain at the beginning of a hurricane

It has all hit her at once.

The full blown hurricane arrives.

All the worry, care, anxiety.

The girl once had no care in the world.

Once was able to shrug things off

As if they didn’t exist, never happened.

But now.

They are like the heavy load that a hiker carries on his back.

Pulling, dragging, forcing, her to slide back down the steep, steep mountain.

Will she be able to withstand the weight of the load?

The pressure it is putting her under?

Or will she crash,

Be crushed by the load.

Tumble down the hill.

Never to be recovered.

Or in her eyes,

Remembered.

Is the Joking one Masking the Broken one?
