Me not We

They say be like them, be them.

But I if I am them, who will be me?

No one.

If I choose to conform,

If I choose to adapt and change,

I will forget.

I will forget what it means to be me,

and soon enough me will mean we.

But I am strong, I am defiant.

I do not look like them.

I do not think like them.

That is becuase I'm sure as hell not them.

I am me,

and me is exactly who I want to be.
