Me, Now and Forever

Dear Future Me,

When I'm 20 or 50 or 90 or however old

I will be able to look back at this letter

and see what I have told.

No matter how long it will be,

whether I am worse or better,

I will always know what is important to me.

First, I must take care

of the others around me.

Never could I bare

to let them forget how important they are.

To be faithful and appreciative I swear

I will be, no matter how far.

Next I must take care of myself,

for I can only help others as long as

I am strong in self.

To be the best I can

is the goal. And this world has

only the power to let me be who I am.

Then I must look out for

the other things. The birds, the trees,

the life and earth around me, at earth's core.

This world is my home, and I must

leave, but the key

is to be giving. And that I trust.

And lastly, I have to create

an impact that goes beyond vision

or hearing. That whatever my fate,

I have a legacy and power that will

be carried on. The decisions

I make can bring life and goodwill.

Dear Future Me,

I know not what lies in store,

but one thing for sure,

is this future is yours.

Sincerely,

Me from the Past
