Me too Medusa

I once had great beauty
But I said no to him
I attracted men sure
But I always said no
I saw the stares of lust wherever I went
But I still said no
I had made a promise to the Goddess
"Will you sleep around?" she asked
I said no

Dedicated to her
Kept pure for her
Worshiping her day and night
Did he respect that
No
Poseidon the player
Poseidon the flirt
Everyday I came to pray
He would always say
"Stay with me tonight"
And I would always say
No
"Let's Netflix and chill"
Again I said No
The third time he didn't ask
Oh No
He grabbed me
Forced me
Choked me
Even though I screamed NO.

She waltzed in
Only seeing the aftermath
My gown ripped
My face flushed
My eyes hazed
"Did you sleep with him"
no I croaked out
But no wasn't enough for her
She believed him instead
"You betrayed me"
No I love you!
"Our covenant is broken"
Athena No!
He Raped me Athena!
Believe me Athena!
"No"

My beauty was stolen
Replace with dreads that hiss
And eyes that freeze
Innocent people frozen in time
Their look of fear cemented
Never again will someone look at me
To admire
Or to desire

I don't deserve this
I said No
"Me too Medusa"
"That happened to me too"
I told Poseidon No
"And you were forced?"
Yes
"Me too"
"Were you blamed?"
Yes
"Me too"
"Did they shame you?"
Yes
"Me too"
"You are a survivor"
Yes
"Me too Medusa, Me too"

The End
