The me that you like

The me that you like was never this upbeat girl

But a silent sign,

I was never the front row girl you taught you saw

But the girl behind the curtains,

The me that you like was never the pretty one you could flaunt to you friends

But had all the love to give,

I was the never the girl who threw your imperfections back at you,

But who loved you with all your imperfection if not for it

The me that you like was never the girl who was open about her feelings,

But who held all the pain inside,

I was never the girl with all the words,

But said everything that mattered,

Most of all the me that you like was the girl you said you loved but never new
