A Meal with Mom

mom makes dinner every night

that’s the way it’s always gone

we say grace around the table

and share a meal as one

when bad days come and i feel low

my mother still is there

she hands me plates of fresh, warm food

all i do is grab a chair

i can tell her all my problems

even if it lasts all ngiht

she even waits until we’ve all been fed

before she takes a bite

my mother gives me the food i need

so my body is okay

but more than that, my soul is fed

i can go on to another day
