The Meaning

Music oh music, So sweet to my ears With rhymes so potent And a message so clear. In third grade our teacher asked us, "What is a poem?" I rose my hand quick, My opinion had to be known. A poem is what you make it, I confidently said. It can be alive and vibrant Or colorless and dead. It can be solace during pain Your sunshine during rain Entertainment when you're bored Or familiarity during change It can be music on paper Or a memory of that person you thought you'd never lose Poetry is expression, if it be the form that you choose.
