Meant to be

It was no secret

as you wrapped your arm around me and

I laid my head against you,

we are in love.

It was as if we are the sun and the moon.

The sun brings light with each new day,

the moon reminding us that light can be found

even in  things as dark as the night.

We are two trees in an orchard,

but instead of growing up, we grew in.

Our limbs tangled with each other's

until no one could tell if we were one or two.

We are the ocean and the shore, my love.

No matter how long we part,

we will close the distance

and crash together once more.

The world knows the things that are perfect together:

movies and popcorn,

dancing and music,

flowers and the bee,

you and me.

The good thing is, I know this too

baby, you and me

are meant to be.
