Meant to mentor.

He was meant to mentor me.

Meant to answer my questions,

To each me life lessons.

He was meant to mentor me.

To clear up the confusion,

To erase my illusions.

He was meant to mentor me.

But when I asked he said "look it up."

When I failed he said "that really sucks."

He was meant to mentor me.

But when I was confused, lost, and bamboozled?

He didn't help. He sent me to google.

I was angry.

"What kind of teacher is he?

He was supposed to mentor me!"

But now that I'm older,

Now I see.

He taught me to find my own answers.

To work until I do understand.

He showed me that sometimes life sucks

But that doesn't mean that you just give up.

I learned for myself, I didn't just repeat what he said.

And now new things don't feel me with dread.

So, in short,  to explain it all simply,

he was the mentor who did not mentor to me.
