Meanwhile on the Balcony of a Studio Apartment

From her left, a world so big is seen

To her right, the opposite

She leans against the doorframe

The cool breeze keeping her present

With a coffee-filled mug in hand

She watches the city below

Looking into the night,

She realizes the stars are upside down

The sky above is a milky gray

The ground below is twinkling

She hears cars passing

The same cars she counts the headlights of

to lull her off to sleep some nights

The apartment she remains halfway inside

is warm and inviting

contrasting to the cool night

As small as it is

It smells like home

Her eyes are heavy

Her coffee has drained

The quiet solitude of the apartment beckons

Her gaze lingers on the city horizon

only a moment longer

She says goodnight silently

And she turns to her right
