The Meaty Truth

It’s 2009 and I am 8
When it’s time to dine, I appreciate
The fowl, the pork, and beef on the table
That we shall feast upon tonight
And yet I so small have yet to see
How barbaric and gross what came to be
How animals are stunned, slit and slaughtered
All for the market of undying hunger
And how the meat we eat we kill us neat
In hospital beds, dying of PC
Just like Jobs we will fall ill
To the disease we call cancer, and even still
We search for ways to combat this heathen
Without looking to shape what we’ve eaten
No medication can cleanse our choices
Those are for us to make, pork or green courses
So in 10 years time I’ll sit at a table
Coding AI in order to be able
To find the disease that plagues our hearts

When it’s really in the kitchen where we should start.
