Mediocre Aspirations

Aspiring to mediocrity

Is nothing but insanity

We keep lowering the bar

Until where we are is far

From where we want to be

What will it take to see

We've been conned out of our

Humanity

Praising fish for swimming

Misrepresenting the truth

We always thought our problems

We due to misspent youth

The fact is far more sinister

Than even wildest fiction

Wolves in sheep's clothing

Pedalling lies

Saying they are here to minister

To us their flock

Placing us between hard place and rock

Thinking we can't see them

Through their flimsy disguise

So they flatter our pride

And we believe them

When they tell us

We are chosen and special

And our human nature

Is what left us in peril

Too blind to see

Too feeble to stand

We keep defending their rights

To occupy and destroy stolen lands

Brainwashed though we are

We can still find our hearts

And liberate ourselves

Before it tears us apart
