The Meeting (Just started reading and writing poetry today)
The Meeting,
I remember our first encounter; it was by proximity and happenstance.
My heart was idle and at ease, not a beat too fast or slow.
Then my gaze came upon you and it locked on your face like a castle door.
You gently craned and saw, no perhaps even felt me peering into your eyes.
At that moment, it was as a flint was struck. Fire bellowed in my whole being.
I had to look away as not to be awkward but also not to be consumed.
Next, it was as if wings had sprouted from me, carrying my body to you.
Your smile was like a sunrise, bringing me new life and warmth.
When you spoke, cherubs themselves delivered your words to my ears.
And now, even as our first encounter seems like eons ago.
When we are together, the flint still strikes and I am again consumed.
