Melancholy Bliss

When the rain

Drops

Kiss the Earth

In the melancholy

Bliss of a new day

The sky opens

Before my eyes

As an enticing

Downpour

Of renewed hope

The light pours

From the heavens

As a new dawn

Peaks

Beyond the horizon

The somber wind

Begins to play

A haunting melody of

Discord

And dismay

Yet the emerging sun

Chases the impending

Sadness

And creates a refuge

For the broken-hearted

Oh, to be a drop

Of the sunlight

That catches your eyes

And lives forever in

Memory

As a peal of laughter

Ripened by the joys

Of endless mirth and

happiness

The gift of childhood

The refuge as a last

Resort

For warmth and comfort

Continues to be the heart

that beats within your chest

A constant thrumming, a

Whimper

A plea for peace

Wreathed in the guise

Of serenity

Continue to beat

Continue to

Shine

And keep the dreams

Of reality from my waking eyes
