melanin

oh yes I am a beautiful color
but you are the one with the deficiency sir

don't you dare say otherwise
look into my eyes
what do you see
more beautiful brown is what becomes of me

but what does the government think of me
I'm just another black girl who'll end up on welfare with 5 kids and bad weave
DONT you stereotype me

oh yes I am all woman
every beautiful chocolate inch
I am a woman
no matter how dark I get in the summer
no matter how light I am in the winter

YES I am beautiful
not because my man says so
but because my melanin says so

my skin is so beautiful
your kind gets skin cancer to be like mine
no ma'am I do not stand in the sun
I was blessed with this one

this beautiful pigment
melanin
