Melissa's Hourglass

Hold on to your hourglass so gently in your hand. How can your whole life be imprinted in this sand? The grains, they fall so quickly, counting every day. How can you run so fast when you just want to stay? Throw down the hourglass and make the time stand still. Wait in this perfect peace and listen for God's will. Walk across the fallen sand and fall into a hole. Arrive among the salty waves a happy heart and soul. Lay there till you wash up on the picture perfect shore. Spread your wings and use the wind to rise above and soar. Float around the world and see all the evil here. Look at all the struggles, and the children filled with fear. The people are all frozen, stuck within their strife. A woman and a child and a man who holds a knife. See them with your kind eyes, and take them in with pity. For you are the one person who was sent to save this city. You are needed here and now to spread your love and cheer. You can take away their pain and you can ease their fear. So slowley as you mend their hearts, I put your time together. Though you want to meet your death, your soul will live forever. Your hourglass is fixed at last, God's will I know you've learned. And so I flip it one time over, for life's gears are meant to turn.
