Melted Jolly Rancher (Blue)

I’m starting to miss those nights

Of pantomimed soft tissue

Of red stained lips

It’s replaced with hard yellow,

Milk chocolate, bouncing pennies

My eyes roll in their sockets

Mirages of

Warm callouses, jet black hair

Droopy eyes. It’s beautiful.

I miss those nights

Of long, soft curls

Bouncing on my shoulder

I miss those nights

Of milky skin and smooth divots

Memorized heat on each fingertip

But

I don’t mind it

It’s reaching through the cracks

For white flowers on sanded patios

For pounding feet on heated hardwood floors

For diluted paranoia for every look

For erased guilt for every thought

I wish I minded it

I shouldn’t mind it
