The Melted Wings

I saw it again today

The place where we used to meet.

It wasn't at all the same as I remember.

The walls used to sing-sing-sing

in your presence.

Now they barely hum.

The sky used to be the limit for us-

We'd fly everywhere we went.

But, then we got too close to the sun,

And how quickly our wings melted.

So, the magic in our room has gone.

Reduced to a bitter reminder of the past.

They may not have been much,

But the confine of those walls was all that held us together.

Now, we're limitless.

Stretched too far and thin.

Searching for an answer...

But not finding one.
