Memories

Time froze

And I started to think

To think of what could have been

Of what might have been

Of what should have been

If I had stayed

If I had stayed things could only get better

If anything could be better than this

Than this frozen moment of bliss

Why did I have to leave to realize what I had

Why did I have to come in the first place?

There could have been less heartache

There might have been less false hope

But we wouldn’t have met

And I hear our favorite song

And I realize

What are memories for if not to remember

Remember the good times

The bad times

The times that drag you on your knees

Crying, praying, laughing

The times I could never have had without you

Even the dull moments were bliss compared to this

Compared to the unknown

The unknown of what’s ahead,

What if I never find something like this again

Inside I know I never will

And I think again of what could have been

If I had stayed

But what are memories for if not to remember
