Memories

Dear Memories,

A great deal I have to say,

yet time does not allow,

all that I wish could be said.

With me through great or small,

whether the thought was great or not at all,

I appreciate what you offer,

and also what you take,

but in the end you have never been a bother.

While what you contain are presently fleeting,

your presence preserves its timelessness,

a personal bond to what I was once and did,

a debt I cannot ever wholly repay.

I ask those who have forgotten,

to try and remember,

the way we were so long ago,

despite the winds of time blown,

the roots of the past still hold,

and for I,

they always will.

Dear Memories,

I thank you in final,

for recalling my past,

as completely as I wish I could relive it.
