Memories

Remember when
It started.
Of course you wouldn’t.
I don’t either,
But I remember
when we first caught a firefly.
Oh, how it glowed with hope
Of a future to love

But when I got to that future
You were gone

My days got blurry
I couldn’t see
What was good or bad
I was afraid to make a choice
So I kept my eyes closed
and let them led the way

They took your place
Through them I found
I don’t remember, but it was better
Than doing it alone

But I‘m not happy
I’m not depressed
I don’t have the right to be
But I’m not happy

Why did you leave me?
You’re right, I left you.
You hate me. I hate me.
I’ve done nothing but blame you.
So why are you still here?
To tell me how you wish I was died.
Well, I’m mad I’m still alive.

You love me?
You forgive me?
How! After everything I’ve done!
Oh, I see that’s why.
Then can you help me,
Love myself as you do?

Remember when
You helped me grow?
Yeah, I do too.
