Memories

Poem #14: Memories Visions of you, Age old memories you’re always more than a friend to me You were the remedy to my heartsickness When I was feverish you were the cure where all things changed you would endure Holding me up, the unbreakable arm You were a smile with unfaltering charm Your voice danced like spirits and I was under your spell For the love of God couldn’t figure out why this angel fell One coy smile caught me slipping One shy “hello” and I was hooked One small kiss and I was addicted Your withdrawal had my body shook I'm bringing up age old memories you’re always more than a friend to me One heartbeat, two hearts One movement, two souls Somehow you were the one thing that always made me whole Soon seeing you became my trial my heart breaking with every rhyme as I heard him whisper your name I knew loving you had been a crime I'd never gotten goose bumps until i met you it seemed like the world was enough until i met you Its pitch blackness now though I know I'm dredging up old memories but you're always more than a friend to me breeze blowing through your hair it takes all my strength not to stare remembering how it all began two strangers connected by a strand a thread too thin to be substantial but in my dreams there's vast potential back in timestamps where it all started conversations online you've imparted an impression, a sensual suggestion they say absence makes the heart grow fonder and in my absence you claim me totally but the truth of the matter was unknown to me I was fighting figments of reality I was never yours, your heart was never mine we were never together in totality but how you laugh now at those memories how I wanted you to be more than a friend to me it seems like now I’ve become the enemy if this is the curse then I'm the Kennedy shot down in my prime is this the end of me end of us, flowers cut before full bloom it seems like now, there's an elephant in the room trampling everything we’d grown gone too soon didn't have a chance to even get to "I love you" Hell, you even scoffed when I told you "I liked you" Past and Present head to head battle sidelined watching the conclusion my cameo appearance in your life: It’s nothing more than an intrusion a handsome face and a smile but you say I was lying all the while pretending to be a sweet dream but really a beautiful nightmare To you now I seem to just be a scent gone in the summer night air but that’s because you had forgotten all of our memories No more coy smiles reflecting my love for you back to me.
