Memories
James 4:14 New English Translation
14 You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes.
Years have gone by so quickly and the distance just grew wider
Traveling in different directions, we lost sight of each other
It did not seem apparent but almost like a quiet glider
One of us soared on the wind while the other did not bother
Now we are gathered in a different dimension
I am here somewhere and you are out of sight
It seems that unity splattered against the wall of contention
While the atmosphere is polluted by one’s own desire
We came so far to stumble and now we can’t get up
We are too far apart to rebuild this crumbling plot
Once we were so “humble” as we spilled our full cup
To soothe every heart in need of unconditional love
There is only one answer and only one way to turn
Engraved deep in the inner-man and far beyond the flesh
Selfishness is like cancer that will deep and slowly burn
And rob you of the plans that God knows for your best
Where is the relationship, that once, we thought we had?
Was the smile that bubbled just from your heart’s desire?
Was it not the friendship that delivered you from sad?
That brought you so “humble” to the mission you admired
So many looked up to you and now are looking down
Almost like a season’s change appear the wounded and the fallen
Like leaves fall to be bagged and picked up from the ground
To be crushed and rearranged to protect the young in their calling
