Memories Are War (The Scholar)

Memories swarm to and from his battered mind
And bruised heart as he
Longs for this war within him to stop—to just cease this bothering
Of an unruly scholar working himself to death
To keep the thoughts from intruding on his actions.

The disheveled scholar looks up at the pile of papers on his desk
And doesn't realize why he wants to keep himself so busy
Working himself to the bare bones he is built up with;
Fighting the mental war of memories that won't leave him be,
He tries to go about himself in the utmost transparent manner.

Being brutally honest of his trauma,
Of his battered mind,
Of his bruised heart,
And people simply laugh and leave
While he trusted them enough to understand him
On his own level, and not their own.

The scholar's mind shatters like that of glass,
Different fragments scattered everywhere that
Speak to him, that love him, that understand him;
Speaking to the fragments made from his glassy mind,
He finally realizes why he needed to keep himself busy until death:

Memories are war,
And his beloved glassy mind had just shattered.
